She Finally Feels Happy

Have you ever had an experience so incredible that it was hard to put into words? An experience so beautiful and profound that it opened your heart and elevated your soul, but the English language is horribly insufficient for such awe?

That's how I feel about this past weekend.

This weekend, 25 loving, inspiring, courageous women joined me and Taylor Strecker for Goddess Girls Retreat, and our lives are forever changed.

Imagine feeling safe to share your deepest fears, most secret truths, and greatest hopes – things you haven’t even shared with close friends or family because you’re too afraid of their reaction – and receiving unconditional love, encouragement and support for it all – a hand on your back, someone passing you tissues, hearing that you’re going to be okay.

Imagine laughing for hours with friends for life as you run into the ocean with your clothes on, dance under the moon with abandon, and sip champagne by the pool.

As one woman shared, “I've never made such deep friendships in one day before! I truly feel like they're sisters for life.”

Each woman was different – and the same. They had different stories, but similar hearts. One wants a divorce, another struggles with her daughter, and another is finding herself after her kids are out of the house, but under the fear, shame and guilt is the same beautiful spirit wanting to feel alive and free and happy again.

As one woman who lost her job and went through months of struggle shared, “I was driving home and just smiling. I realized I feel happy… just happy.”

You too have a Goddess within. Being a Goddess is being adored for who you are. It's walking with self-confidence, knowing and listening to your heart, and allowing yourself to pursue your desires. It's adoring yourself enough to put your heart first, knowing that when you take care of you, you better take care of others.

And they're already seeing changes in their lives – feeling more patient with kids, being more present at work, feeling confident to end an unhealthy relationship or to start a new career.

This level of growth is possible for you too. All it takes is an open heart, a hopeful spirit, and a supportive Sisterhood.

Living Fully Alive!

When is the last time you allowed yourself to feel totally and completely alive? To declare out loud what you want, even if others don't get it or support it? To dance when there's no music? To risk failing a big dream because your heart would never forgive you if you didn't at least try?

This is what my client did with me by going on an exclusive VIP retreat with me in Paris, and you can do it too. You don't have to come to Paris with me (though you'd love it), but you do need to take space away to get clear.

When the plane took off to Paris 2 weeks ago, I had no idea what to expect. I was meeting a client that I didn't know for a private exclusive retreat where we would be together in Paris for 5 days. I knew that we'd have fun going up the Eiffel Tower, eating fresh croissant, and seeing a live cabaret show, and I knew that our work together would be powerful, but I couldn't predict just how much she would spread her wings.

This was a scary proposition for us both. Together for 5 days? What if she didn't open up? What if it doesn't work?

But on Day 1 as we sat in a rose garden next to the Champs Elysees, devouring steaming hot crepes filled with nutella and caramel that dripped down our chins, we discovered her true purpose. She remembered when she's felt most alive in life, and committed to live that in her relationships, her work, her health – in every aspect of life.

Out of respect for her, I won't share the details of her purpose or desires or struggles, but I will share that throughout our VIP retreat, I witnessed her unfold, expand, and stand in her power with joy and grace.

As we meditated in the Tuileries Gardens, and then toured the Louvre, we created our own definition of beauty. One painting spoke “Empowered woman” to her; another, “JOY” to both of us, and as she stared at a sculpture for a long time, she declared, “Freedom.”

Each day I witnessed her own more and more of her true self. We practiced yoga in the gardens, elevated up the Eiffel Tower, celebrated life with champagne, and let our inner child play with paint in the very spot that Picasso and Renoir did. She faced her fears and bravely overcame them while declaring to fill her soul with JOY.

By the end of our retreat, she was clear on what she needs and EMPOWERED to go get it.

Plus we had the most incredible time having an all-dessert picnic along the Seine, savoring an all-souffle meal (what??!!), and indulging in the most delicious Guerlain perfume personalized with our names in GOLD!!!

This retreat reminded me why I do VIP retreats: They WORK! Spending a full day together away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life achieves this result. With whole days, we go deep into your purpose and move past your fears.

You CAN Be EMPOWERED, And You Deserve It!

Fill in the following sentences: “An Empowered Woman (or Man) is ____________. An Empowered Woman does __________. An Empowered Woman has ______________.”

Now look at your list – how are you measuring up to your own definition?

If you're like my clients who just graduated from my 4 month EMPOWERED program, you said things like:

An Empowered Woman follows her heart no matter what others say.
An Empowered Woman is confident and happy with her decisions.
An Empowered Woman has courage to say “Yes!” and “NO!”

When these women began the program in January, they were afraid they would never be the women they described.

One was afraid that her dreams would break her marriage apart. One had never been allowed to dream as a child, so she didn't even know what her heart wanted. Another was tired of being passed up for promotions, and another let fear keep her in a job she disliked for years.

I get it – I used to be the same way. I looked at women who were confident vibrant Goddesses, and I felt horribly envious. I wanted to be the one following my dreams. I wanted to be the one who was light and full of laughter.

I'm sure you get it too. So many of us – men and women – are afraid to be who we really are. You're afraid to stand in your full power because at some point, someone said you aren't good enough. Eventually we come to believe it.

So we spent the first part of EMPOWERED reconnecting with our TRUTH: The beauty, vibrancy, and gifts that lie deep down inside of us. I asked the women to share pictures of themselves as little girls – ages before they were told who they should and should not be. One woman saw how sad her younger self was. Another wanted to save her sweet younger self from the pain she was about to endure. One remembered that she was so independent that at 5, she faked going to a babysitter to show her mom that she could take care of herself!

We then spent a month peeling back the layers of shame, guilt, and fear that cover you up. One hid under the pain of being adopted, another being gay in a small southern town, another carried the shame of being disowned by family, another carried the guilt of a struggling marriage.

And then over coming months, they re-wrote their stories, they chose how they want to live their lives now, they wrote vows to themselves, and then they began taking action.

Oh my goodness, friend, these women are now on FIRE!

The one afraid that her dreams would break up her marriage? She spoke up to her husband and created a studio space for her dancing.
The one who wasn't allowed to dream? She now loves herself so much that she's turned down unworthy men and is planning solo travel.
The one looked over for promotions? She went and asked for a new job.
And the one who hated her job? She gave notice and is planning her own business.

I am in AWE of every single one of these women. I am SO blessed to know, love and support them! They overcame their fears and self-doubt. They created new paths for life. And they did it together! That's why I run Sisterhoods like this and like the F*Midlife Club, and why I do small group leadership training at corporations. When we do the work together, we soar!

See, deep down we all yearn to be Empowered. We crave living bigger, more fulfilling lives. We were born to activate our dreams!

Why else were you born if not to be your full, vibrant, powerful self? Why else would you exist in your exact form if not to bring all of your gifts and passions to the world? Why else would you have survived the traumas and challenges of your life if not to now speak with courage?
