Happy International Women's Day!
On Friday, I delivered the Keynote on “Your Purpose” for Amazon’s International Women’s Day event and I'm still in awe and gratitude. I want to share the message with you so that you feel the power available to all of us women right here and right now.
Coronavirus turned the event from a live audience with 600 attendees to an online streaming event with 1000+ people watching, but we didn’t let it stop us!
Women standing in our power, owning our strengths, going for our dreams and rising up with strength is critical to changing the world!!
The fact is that research shows that even though women are just as competent as men, we have 50% more self-doubt. 50%!!! It’s not our fault – The world tells us every day that we’re too old/fat/skinny, etc. With every product we buy that says “Anti-aging” or “Youthful essence”, we receive the message that there's something wrong with us for growing older and wiser. The message that we can't be beautiful as we are.
But every woman I know IS beautiful. Every woman I know is strong, courageous, resilient and badass creative in getting life done. We each have unique strengths and passions that the world needs!
Here’s the thing – we can no longer settle for simply surviving – just going through the motions, overwhelmed, holding back our ideas and not doing for dreams fully. We can no longer accept feeling crappy about ourselves. The world needs us women in our full capacity, full ALIVENESS, full HAPPINESS now!!
So at Amazon's International Women's Day celebration, I talked about: Why we need a new paradigm for happiness, how it benefits us individually, corporations, and the economy, how pleasure + purpose + power leads to life satisfaction, I shared the elements of purpose and how to bring it to Amazon and life, and how to get up STRONGER and more ALIVE after every trauma, challenge and difficulty.
I even shared my grandparents’ story of surviving the Holocaust and how their survival and then thriving in life has always shown me how to live and how each of us is a miracle that owes it to ourselves to love ourselves, know our purpose live fully!
In fact, part of my story (and every woman's story), is bouncing back after trauma, challenges, and difficulty. When I was robbed at gunpoint, my ex-boss' wife said, “You poor thing – so many things happen to you!” I didn't see it that way – I saw it that every moment was for PURPOSE and that moment of gun robbery taught me that life is short and we MUST go for our dreams now! As my dear friend Michelle said, I'm a “weeble wobble” – that toy that said “weebles wobble but they don't fall down.” We all have this power and on this week's episode of the PurposeGirl Podcast, I teach you how to rise up again and again as a Weeble Wobble. Listen here.
Because ultimately, we CHOOSE our lives. No matter what. Every day. Every minute. You choose. Choose to know your beauty. Choose to live your purpose. Choose to go for your dreams.
