What if you told yourself that you're awesome instead?
This week, I want you to practice saying as many empowering, nice things as you can to yourself, and I'm going to practice too.
The truth is that my brain can be brutal. My mom was always concerned that I beat myself up, and if you're like a lot of my clients, you do it too. You're probably harsher on yourself than anyone else could be.
But to what end? Is self-criticism helping or hurting you?
This weekend, I hosted my new EMPOWERED group for our first retreat. After we all defined what it means to be empowered – speak your truth even if others don't agree, follow your purpose no matter what, know that you're enough as is, move through fear with courage – I asked, What's getting in your way of being empowered?
Under hard stories of abuse, abandonment, isolation and perfectionism was a common theme: We feel like we aren't good enough. But as we looked into each other's eyes, we saw something completely different. In each woman, we saw resilience, strength, beauty, and courage!
When one woman shared that she was afraid to move to New York, we all said, “You're going to be awesome there!” When one woman shared that she's afraid to be honest with her husband, we said, “We're here with you, you can do this.”
Encouraging words were way more empowering than the nasty self-talk. With encouragement, you reach goals. With encouragement, you thrive!
By the end the weekend, each woman was flying high! So your SPARK this week: Be your own best cheerleader. I'm going to quadruple my self-love, my self-kindness, and self-empowerment, and I want you to do it with me.
Fill in this sentence: By this time next year, I'll treat myself like…
For motivation, I taped this Facebook Live today and you'll see my very raw, very real emotion around this. In fact, I'll be doing Facebook Lives every Monday at 1 pm ET – you can watch them weekly here.
Not good enough, pretty enough, skinny enough – Stop feeling unworthy!!! |
Let's take a stand for our worth, our purpose, and our most empowered selves!
To being our own best cheerleaders!
