New Year's Ritual

Happy New Year!

As I reflect on this year, I am in awe of the abundance, beauty, wisdom, and love I've experienced in 2014. I created one of those Facebook slide shows of my year and watched with tears. Not every moment has been easy, but each was a gift for which I am grateful. This may sound nuts, but I didn't go into 2014 expecting to get married or become a “bonus-mom,” yet these surprises are the outcome of my annual New Year ritual last year. I asked for it all.

I want to share this ritual with you because I've used it for years to create the joy, abundance, and love that I desire. I want you to create what YOU want in 2015, so enjoy using this amazing tool.

So what do you want? Maybe one of these goals is running through your mind…

  • “Start Working Out!”
  • “Begin Meditating!”
  • “Get a New Job!”
  • “Find Love!”

Or maybe you don't know what you want – and that's okay! After my newsletter last year about awakening your true desires, several people e-mailed that they don't know what they desire – let alone how to achieve it. I totally get that, and spent years feeling the same. (That's why I'm creating a new accessible online course for 2015, but more on that later. In the meantime, if this sounds like you, email me to learn more.)

Regardless of what you want – or even if you don't know what you want yet, you can't stuff more into an already overflowing life. You know how when you try to put one more dish into the top rack, but then the dishwasher won't close… your life is the same.

If your calendar is already overflowing, how will you have time for regular workouts? If your days are jam-packed doing, doing, doing, how will you get time to simply be in meditation? If your brain is filled with anger toward your boss, how will you have mental space to figure out what kind of job you want?

You need to clear space for the new.

At the end of a year, I do several clearing exercises: Physical, Mental, and Emotional. Physically, I clear out old clothes that I don't wear, I clean out my “junk” drawer, and I create fresh space for my work. Emotionally, I clear wounds that need healing by writing letters (that I give or don't give) and/or apologize for my wrong-doings.

And every New Year's Eve, I mentally clear space for ALL THAT I DESIRE! Below is this ritual. Last year, Josh and I did this ritual, and look at how our year evolved.

  1. First, write down everything that was REALLY GOOD in 2014. Be sure to write every moment of joy, good health, accolade, tenderness, and inspiration, with gratitude for the experience.
  2. Then, write down every LESSON you learned in 2014 that you want to carry with you into 2015. These lessons may have occurred through trial, trauma, or triumph. The cause isn’t as important to this exercise as the lesson itself. Remember to have GRATITUDE for the lesson so that you remember it going forward.
  3. Then, on a separate piece of paper, write every OLD  PATTERN and limiting belief that held you back in 2014, and that you are READY TO LEAVE BEHIND. Last year, I wrote: insecurity, thinking I'm not good enough, and a deep-seated fear that you can't make money living your purpose. (Yep – even I had that old fear before!) Now take the paper outside and light a match to it! Yep, good riddance!
  4. Now, on separate pieces of paper, write your new beliefs (mine are here) and then write your intentions and desires for 2015.

Seeing how I set the intention of saying “YES” to myself, of course I leaned into marrying the man I loved. Considering that I set the intention that wealth is good, and that I wanted to make a difference to others, of course I doubled my income this year – ALL from living my purpose. Clearing the way, then setting intention, set me on course.

You can set your course. You, too, can make a living from your passion. You, too, can have great love. If you want to create the life you desire, do this ritual tonight or tomorrow. And if you need help getting quiet and clear beforehand, re-read my blog from last week. Meditate on “I awaken in the stillness,” clear out old crap, and see what comes up.

Again, in just a few days, I will be launching a new online course to help you leave that dead-end situation, to teach you how to get clarity on what you really want, to create an exit strategy, and to take steps forward. Use tonight to clear space and then join me in January to move forward. The class will fill, so if you want to be the first to learn about it, email me now!

I hope you enjoy this ritual. I am heading off to go do it right now! It is not just New Year's Eve, my friend. Now is YOUR TIME to clear space for YOU to STEP FORWARD AND SHINE!

May you have a purpose-FULL, beautiful, fun, inspiring NEW YEAR! Here's to you getting ALL of what you desire in 2015!

XOXO,

Carin

Bach Party

Warning, the content of this email is a bit risqué… And I'm okay with that, because I am OWNING my truth right here, right now. And I want you to do the same.

This past weekend, my girlfriends threw me a bachelorette party. Not your run-of-the-mill bachelorette party – a “Pamper and Pole” party! Yes, POLE! As in, “pole dancing!” I am so excited to tell you about it!

First, my girlfriends pampered me with healthy organic food, rich delicious wine, neck, head and hand massages, a pedicure, and a manicure — AND they hand-fed me decadent mini cupcakes! Can you say “GODDESS” treatment? Then… they helped me into a hot little dress, adorned me with Grecian hair and exquisite make-up, and decorated my skin with tiny little stars. I felt like a QUEEN.

And why shouldn't I feel like royalty? Why shouldn't YOU?

You and I both deserve royal treatment. We deserve to be pampered and supported. Actually, we NEED support to fully live on purpose. With support from someone who knows you and believes in you, you blossom into your best you. It is when you STEP INTO your full truth, DECLARE the right to OWN your life, and ALLOW yourself the support to live fully that you are finally LIBERATED.

So that is what I did. I asked one friend to paint a Marilyn Monroe-like mole on my lip. I asked another to pin a cat tail on my dress and I danced around that pole liked I OWNED it.

I now feel so free, so alive, so radiant – all by owning my truth: I am a sexy Goddess of a woman! And why shouldn't I claim that truth? Why shouldn't YOU?

There was a time when I was too afraid to show you this side of me. I wanted to share my “Goddess” side, but I was too afraid. Afraid my parents wouldn't approve, afraid my friends wouldn't understand, afraid YOU would stop following my work. I work with corporations and teens and thought you wouldn't like me anymore.

Is there something you are afraid to OWN about yourself too?

It's time to set yourself free… As long as I lived behind this veil, I wasn't living fully, and therefore, I wasn't fully living my purpose. I couldn't possibly support you in living your best life if I wasn't living mine!

Living your purpose is being ALL of you; for you are the only you there is. When you hold back any part of you, you feel “small”, “stuck” and often, depressed and/or anxious. Does this resonate?

Plus, when you squash part of you, you are depriving others of your brilliance.

It's time to CLAIM your greatness! It's time to declare that you write the rules of your own life. I am working on two juicy new programs to help you do just that… and I can't wait to share them with you! Stay tuned to this email newsletter for more info SOON on how YOU can CLAIM the REST of your life and finally enjoy the liberation and happiness you crave!

In the meantime, I taped this risqué video for you ladies who want to feel sexier, more beautiful and more alive… enjoy!

You deserve to feel like a Queen (or King!) You deserve to treat yourself to the support that will allow you to live life on your terms so that you are truly happy! I can't wait to tell you about the new programs. (Hint: one is for those of you wanting to activate your purpose… the other is for ONLY 40 women in your 40s who want to OWN the NEXT 40 years of your lives. Is either of these you? If so, email me and I'll send you info as soon as I have it!I believe in you, you royal jewel!!!

Purpose is a Verb

When I first allowed myself to think seriously about living my purpose as a career, I NEVER could have imagined the incredible week I just had.

First, so many of you emailed me after last week's newsletter that you are READY to say YES to yourself and your happiness! Then, I facilitated a Purpose workshop through the Wounded Warrior Project for 25 strong, humble vets who were hurt in the military and yearn to be back in service. I then hosted my very FIRST solo radio show and finally, I finished the week teaching Purpose all day in the Certificate of

Applied Positive Psychology program. WHEW… Needless to say, it has been a purpose-FULL week!

One theme stands out: YOU are in control of your own life. You. No matter your age or stage of life, or what trauma you have experienced, you can take control back and live on purpose from this day forward.

When I began the workshop with wounded soldiers, one man shared, “I knew who I was as the sergeant – I brought my men home. But now…,” he shook his head as tears welled in his eyes, “I can't go back. My purpose is over.”

I heard the same thing from a coaching client last week who is a mom with growing children. She feels useless. Without kids who depend on her every need, who is she now?

She is not only a mom and the soldier is not only a sergeant. Both are purposeful humans beyond their previously defined roles. They both can live their purpose in new meaningful ways. For example, another soldier said that his bullet proof vest and gun made him strong. As I got to know him, I pointed out that it was his heart that made him strong. He LOVED his unit and he carries his purpose to love and lead wherever he goes. This made him cry as he shared his dreams of teaching kids.

See, purpose is not a noun like “parent” or “VP.” Purpose is a verb. It is the active way in which you impact the world. It is who you are. The integration of your strengths, values, passions and the wisdom you've garnered from your experiences. And when you know who you are, you can intentionally contribute your unique impact in EVERY role you play. You carry that impact with you as life evolves.

So how are you reducing your whole life to one noun? What is your true purpose that you can recreate into new purposeful action?

I taped this video to help you determine YOUR purpose and next steps in life.

Years ago, I thought my purpose was to be a wife. When I divorced, I began to see that it was the way inspire others that is my true purpose regardless of the role I play. Today, though I am a writer, speaker, coach, and media personality, my purpose to inspire, encourage and empower is the same.

You too can have a new role and live on purpose. You too can take control back of your life, regardless of age or stage or trauma. In fact, your age, stage or recent traumatic event could shape what is next for you. Let yourself feel fulfilled. Let yourself be happy. You deserve it! So what are you waiting for?  I offer free 30 minute consultations about your purpose… so what are you waiting for? Email me!

I believe in you!!!

Stop overcomplicating things!

Greetings from beautiful New York City where I am feeling on top of the world. Yesterday, I held the second onsite for my 4 month class, “AMP: Activate My Purpose!” and the shifts people are making to take a STAND for their greatness and to PURSUE their purpose is giving me goosebumps!! One woman left claiming that she was getting out of her own way and going for her dreams. It's beyond inspiring and humbling to see people claim their birthright of purpose!

This class made me think of you.

You can realize your dreams too. You can live on purpose. I know – you may think you don't know what your purpose is, or you have a dream but you think you're not rich enough, talented enough, or good enough to do what is in your heart to do. These thoughts are only holding you back. You know deep down what lights you up…. you know.

But what are you going to do about it? The only difference between these students and you is that they are saying “YES” to themselves. They are investing in themselves to change their lives. It takes time, effort, money and energy to create the life you want. My students are worth it and so are you!

I know change isn't easy. Purpose feels overwhelming. Years ago, I too was paralyzed by fear. Fear that no one wanted to hear what I had to say. Fear that I wasn't good enough. Fear that I would fail. All of those nasty voices held me back for years. If I had listened to those voices, I wouldn't have taught AMP this past weekend, I wouldn't be a best selling author and I wouldn't be writing this to you today.

What is holding you back? One of the things that used to hold me back was overcomplicating purpose and allowing my head to SPIN out of control about what I was MEANT to do. Can you relate? If so, you need to stop overcomplicating the matter. Purpose is simple: it is doing what lights you up so that you can light others up. I taped this video for you to take the first step.

My AMP students said YES to themselves and you can too. What are you waiting for?  Email me for a free 30 minute consultation about your purpose. You deserve it and your dreams are waiting.

With so much love!!

Carin

Mind over Mood

Greetings from Sunny Florida where I am spending Passover with my honey and his family.  A good reminder to appreciate all of the good in life!
As odd as it may seem, on Monday, I was feeling down. Little situations frustrated me, I got sad and even a bit angry. Of course, all of these emotions are 100% human, but sometimes I have let sadness become all out depression and frustration become anger. No good – I was not letting it happen again!
When emotions run wild into a crazy downward spiral of negativity it's not healthy. It's usually not even accurate! For example… Your boss points out a mistake and suddenly you're either cursing her or terrified you're losing your job. Your hotel gets messed up and it rains on day one of vacation – and suddenly you're sure that the whole vacation is ruined. That spiral hurts us more – and it's damaging – for you, your relationships and your life. This is when we need to take control of our emotions – mind over mood!
I made a video for you about this a few weeks ago while I was in California. No, I'm not crazy for being a bit sad in California or Florida. I'm human – and so are you. When you feel down, it is all about making a conscious choice. A mental choice to not let the negativity spiral. A mental choice to choose to see the good. Notice the beauty of nature, appreciate what you have – and say YES! to opportunities. That's what I did in CA. Choosing Mind over Mood even led me to ride in a helicopter…!!! Check this video out.
This is something I work on consistently, so let's do it together. Let's choose happiness – or at least not let our emotions run away into a downward spiral. So I ask you, how will you choose your MIND over your MOOD this week? Email me – I can’t wait to hear!
